Although I didn't get a chance to go to Azkatraz, I did make it to the WtP Snarry Meetup. I've always loved that cons let me put faces to names, but it was equally great meeting a bunch of new folks. Everyone was absolutely lovely. ♥ Sadly, a few things ran together so I couldn't head back in tonight for one last hurrah. To make up for it, I post this... I drew it rather last minute to have some goodies to bring with, and between this post and the last, it would appear that I am way enamoured with stringing saliva. I apologise for nothing.

blue_soaring wrote a fic follow-up to my Transferis art though, which is just so richly atmospheric it blows me away. I wish she'd write more HP, since one of my very favourite fics of hers is a Snape/Black piece she'd written for merry smutmas a few years ago.

I'm regularly working Sat-Mon, which at first left me wondering what to do with my time, but now school is really picking up nearing the end of the semester, so the next four days are going to be pretty packed for me. I have a lot of work to do for my two final projects. I'm happy with my progress on them though, and I have some fun side projects to work on to keep me sane. I'm really happy I've managed so much art lately, since it just plain feels good to be drawing regularly again. As I flailed in my last pic post, I ordered my Cintiq, so that should get to me within the next week. So. Excited.

Work went well today. I was on my own about 90% of the time, and there wasn't the early lunch rush that there was yesterday so I had a lot more time to learn the register for all of that. I only screwed up twice on the complicated types of orders that I haven't been solidly trained for so I feel good about the day. I even got complimented for my latte making skills! Being the only person at counter means I'll need to learn to how to start the milk steaming while I'm busy getting pastries out of the case and then get back to it before it scalds. That's definitely where my major slowdown is as I'm getting better at snapping the bags open with one hand while half-crawling into the case to reach stuff. Hee.

When I got home, I was getting some old art back up on my site in the HP section and was struck with the want to draw Draco. The fabric is all over the place. I'm going to pretend his shirt is practically torn apart to explain this. It's a feature.

For those of you who don't follow pervy_werewolf, I'm making an attempt on the Lusty Month of May this year. I am possibly insane, but I've managed two sketchy bits of art, so that's a good start!. My intent besides general fun is to test out different styles of drawing and character design.

Thus far I've done a Remus/Severus and a Remus/Sirius for days one and two (both nsfw). I won't post anymore notice in here until the end of the challenge and we'll see by then how many I've managed. :3 All the art I post over there can be found under the tag artist:ponderosa121. Although naturally, I highly encourage you to check out the flurry of other posts as there are some real gems. :D

On a non-Supernatural note. I received my hp_beholder gift, and omgglee. Since the signups had you only requesting characters rather than specific pairings, I'd been dying waiting to see what I'd end up with, and now I know: a tasty tasty bit of Fenrir/Lupin dub-con. Unf. A very pretty Lupin at that. *_* "Graveyard Fun" for anyone else who likes big hairy men with their paws on anime-styled pretty boys. NSFW!

I caught up on quite a few of the entries yesterday, and here are a couple of the other hp_beholder which particularly caught my fancy:

Below the Belt - Dudley Dursley/Millicent Bulstrode - There's a lot about this one I liked, the tone and touches of humour were consistently lovely. I was completely sold on the pairing as crafted, and it was so nice to read a story where the author neither shied away from describing a larger body type or fetishized aspects therein, but rather managed just to make both Dudley and Millicent sexy in their own right.

Quite Some Time Since - Augusta Longbottom/Pomona Sprout - I rarely come across many femslash pairings I like, so adding in the arguable subgenre of older characters, this one stands out from the list of femslash fics I've read and adored. The characterisation and the setting really had me invested in a character I've never really given more than a few seconds thought to, and ultimately in a pairing that never would've crossed my mind!

Finished up a preliminary drawing for an illustration gig and sent off a sketch for a commission. Also when we went out earlier, I picked up a couple shirts to screenprint on and a cute new shirt just for wearing. In general I mostly took it easy but somehow I managed to do a ton today. Now, more with the timed stuffs...

HP - Unnatural Attractions by gatewaygirl - Harry/Sirius. first person pov, bestiality.

After rewatching OotP, I admit I have a new appreciation for Harry/Sirius. Depending on character or author I'll have a tough time getting into a first person pov fic, but I had no trouble at all with this one. There is actual bestiality in this story as well, and Harry has to deal with being attracted to animals (and the consequences) rather than just kinky sex with a person who happens to be able to transform into the shape of one...although there is also plenty of that, and wow.

His organization does not keep in touch, M does not keep in touch, and he finds this all very well and good until the second week of groundwork, at which point he becomes abruptly so bored that he goes out and gets into a fight with a diplomatic consul. "A nice touch of character," Stirling calls it, eyes wide in admiration, and James does not show his surprise.

Dexter - Blood Will Out - Deb/Rudy.

Her brother comes in two flavors: annoyingly hokey and unerringly odd, and judging from the fidgety way he was jingling the change in his pockets, tonight's an odd night. Which was good, because really, what if Rudy decided he likes Dex more than Deb when faced with someone who isn't a neurotic mess? It had been known to happen before, even if there was no way in hell Deb is ever going to tell Dex what really happened with Jake.

And it's a gift from my foster father, just like everything else that comprises the person that the world knows as Dexter Morgan; all those bits and pieces of Harry, wedged between the fragments that were once a terrified child, somehow making up an entire human being. Of sorts.

The sign in the driveway calls it an "active adult community," but he knew it was an old folks' home when he moved into the small bungalow - not big enough to call it a house - and his opinion hasn't changed. Someone comes in to cook his meals and clean for him. Some of the other old bastards who live here have people to wipe their asses, but he's already sworn to swallow his pistol if it comes to that.

Rusty glances sideways at him. "No, the important part is that you remember where that door is, because after the job we're going to need it."

He's more romantic about it than he needs to be when he launches into a carefully scripted speech about their partnership, how they've gotten too good for small-time heists, how they need something challenging to keep them from getting too restless or they'll fall apart, and Rusty's only half listening, because he's already on-line booking airline tickets to wherever Danny's id is leading him. Rusty thinks of the first rule, and reminds himself that he and Danny aren't friends and really, it's just business.

I would also like to point out my gift from merry_smutmas: Life After Death, a sdfadlfkj worthy bit of Remus/Severus. This totally hit my 'forced to be together' fic kink, since they match, somewhat, but they still keep their rough edges. And although there are hints of Tonks and Sirius in a way that fulfills my love of those ships, the fic doesn't focus on them at all in order to force Remus and Severus together. That's left up to magics and politics, and a unique bit of lycanthropy in this. ...also there is Legilimency sex. And how hot is that. :d

J bought me OotP the other day, and since we are essentially done with finals (tomorrow is our last day, and I only have to spend a couple hours or more on my portrait), we curled up on the couch with Susan and watched it. Oh, god. Since J had quit the theatre, I'd only seen it the once instead of camping out in front of the screen. :p Certain details aside, I forgot how much I loved the movie. Remus and Lucius make me so weak in the knees. slkdjf. HBP now pls.

I'd had the lineart for this ages ago, but didn't get around to colouring it. It took a long time to block in the colours since I had so many elements in it, and after the relative simplicity of the pirate chibis I did, I felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew. When I really sat down to it last night though, it went a lot faster than I expected.

Although, I really should've been working on my animation final. Ehe. :p
