steady rollin'

Yay for the spn_j2_xmas mods for accomodating non-LJers. :D I'm so excited. And stormcloude has managed to successfully convert me as I even offered RPF. I am a great big slut.

I've finally gotten back into the groove of drawing. snarry_games aside, everything I tried my hand at turned into a great big steaming pile.

Some time back, perseph told me I absolutely had to watch Rocknrolla (which I would've anyway because I'd watch a Guy Ritchie movie about paint peeling) and I did, and I died of fangasm, and I want the fic even more now that it's not completely fresh in my head. I just don't want to have to write it myself. I am a lazy slut.

In other, more whiny news, I hate hard surface modeling, omg NURBs why are you so difficult? D:

We watched Southland Tales last night. There are some movies which I find very hard to recommend, but that just blow my mind and give me a certain level of excitement for the future of film-making. It was fascinating on so many levels to me, visually obviously, but I particularly liked how much it made me think. Some of that I'm sure is due to how it's somewhat rambling and surreal so I couldn't just let a simple, linear plot wash over me, but it maintained this underlying current that managed to hold everything that seemed fantastical or bizarre together in such a way that I never felt that the most absurd things were actually absurd. The cast in and of itself was fascinating, since it made me keenly aware how much I mentally typecast so many of them. I'd love to let it sit in my head for a while and watch it again, which isn't something I really got from Donnie Darko. All in all, I adored it.

Also, someone should so write me Seann William Scott and Dwayne Johnson RPS or point me towards it if it exists. Everytime I see them together it makes me feel embarrassingly squealy. Seriously. I have such a massive crush on Dwayne Johnson, one which I can feel better about everytime he's in a movie I want to watch for the movie's sake and not just because I want to paw at his biceps and see him smile. I'm dying to go see Get Smart. Tomorrow hopefully. :x

Fic Rec:

Die Hard - Save As, John/Matt, by poisontaster for the Small Fandom Big Bang. I've hardly read in the fandom since John/Matt is not something I can see really easily, but she wins me over every time with the way she writes them. This is a fantastic story, with the sort of character development from beginning to end and the quality of writing that reminds me so thoroughly of everything I love about reading fanfic. The pacing and emotional intensity and omghotness had me ignoring everything this morning in favour of reading all the way to the end in a single sitting.

For those of you who don't follow pervy_werewolf, I'm making an attempt on the Lusty Month of May this year. I am possibly insane, but I've managed two sketchy bits of art, so that's a good start!. My intent besides general fun is to test out different styles of drawing and character design.

Thus far I've done a Remus/Severus and a Remus/Sirius for days one and two (both nsfw). I won't post anymore notice in here until the end of the challenge and we'll see by then how many I've managed. :3 All the art I post over there can be found under the tag artist:ponderosa121. Although naturally, I highly encourage you to check out the flurry of other posts as there are some real gems. :D

On a non-Supernatural note. I received my hp_beholder gift, and omgglee. Since the signups had you only requesting characters rather than specific pairings, I'd been dying waiting to see what I'd end up with, and now I know: a tasty tasty bit of Fenrir/Lupin dub-con. Unf. A very pretty Lupin at that. *_* "Graveyard Fun" for anyone else who likes big hairy men with their paws on anime-styled pretty boys. NSFW!

I caught up on quite a few of the entries yesterday, and here are a couple of the other hp_beholder which particularly caught my fancy:

Below the Belt - Dudley Dursley/Millicent Bulstrode - There's a lot about this one I liked, the tone and touches of humour were consistently lovely. I was completely sold on the pairing as crafted, and it was so nice to read a story where the author neither shied away from describing a larger body type or fetishized aspects therein, but rather managed just to make both Dudley and Millicent sexy in their own right.

Quite Some Time Since - Augusta Longbottom/Pomona Sprout - I rarely come across many femslash pairings I like, so adding in the arguable subgenre of older characters, this one stands out from the list of femslash fics I've read and adored. The characterisation and the setting really had me invested in a character I've never really given more than a few seconds thought to, and ultimately in a pairing that never would've crossed my mind!

J and I went into school today to work in the labs on our 3d assignments. I've re-built my model several times over now and I only have a few more steps to get it prepped for my Wednesday class. My model is looking nicer and my workflow is improving so each time I end up being able to model it better and faster. Neat. This coming week we're working on the head/face so that should be fun.

Am acclimated enough to the weather here now that temps in the 60s meant wearing a skirt and no coat. It was awesome.

Anyway, the point of me typing this up is really to say, those of you who have het ships? You should totally sign up for het_challenge which is running reversathon for this round. HP or rare fandom peoples? I highly encourage you to join, since you never know who out there might be interested in prompting you for things you want to write!

And now we are all going to watch Ghost in the Shell. :D
