I went to Canada and all I got was a lousy stick figure

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Just got back this morning from visiting with [info - personal] blue_soaring and attending the SPN con in Vancouver. I only cared about a single autograph, so the rest of the time I just got extras of Blue's stuff signed for her. I got all the actors aside from Jared and Jensen (who were too behind schedule) to draw stick figures. I think Alona's was my favourite, mostly because she very adorably went "you mean like a four year old's drawing?" and then the stick-gun she drew just ended up looking like a dildo. Misha's was rather hilariously awkward as he tried converting a letter. Alas, Blue's going to have to post those because this is the sole autograph I took home with me...

From here on, stick figure Bobby's gonna guard my Macbook Pro porn. I very briefly considered changing its name from War Machine to something else, except...it's silver and black and always has the best name in the listing whenever I'm on a public network.

All in all, it was an experience. I've never been to that sort of convention before. I will post my bad prom photo badass photo op once I scan it and eradicate that horrible cloudy backdrop in Photoshop, aharharhr. I encourage everyone to get Blue to post her photo ops too, since I talked her into getting air guitar and exorcisms. Fun.

Gotta say that the next time I spend 20 hours on a train I am going to be much better prepared for it, but J and I met some interesting folks. Boarding the train in Seattle for our return trip was like a life saver after a week of adequate coffee. Thank you, Zeitgeist. *_* The best cappuccino I had while in Vancouver, I watched the barista add milk to a pitcher that still had hot milk in it. I cringed.

Home again though and busy with all the things that piled up after a week's vacation. School starts for J this week and my online class begins tomorrow, but I at least have until next week before my on-campus classes start.

Still a little wtf about the Marvel thing. Still a little tired. Cons are hard work. Hi.

sshp azkatraz meetup

I... I am sort of stupidly excited about the Snarry Meetup this weekend. Also nervous.

Anyone attending from whom I could a) bum a ride to the East Bay afterwards or b) crash in their room for the night? That way if there is like moving into the bar or whatever post-meetup I don't have to hightail it before the trains stop running. ^^

99% moved!

In real life, that is. Address up in a locked post in a few, although if anyone I know out there who isn't on IJ or my flist needs my address just hit me with an email. I'm vowing to write more letters this year, because I miss that style of correspondence rather desperately.

There are boxes everywhere, and with both J and I having to work tomorrow also means that those boxes are going to stay there for a bit longer than our initial move to Berkeley where we'd unpacked the first night. It'll be a relief to get everything sorted and tucked away so we can properly enjoy our new space. :D

Comcast is full of stupid per usual and so it looks like the house won't have internet for at least a week and more likely two. Not that I'd been particularly chatty, but expect lag as I'll be using the connection at school and work until things are all set up.

Oh, and hopefully I'll score a fan market spot for Y-con. I know a chunk of people aren't going to make it, but J and I will be there for those of you who are. ^_^

omg watchmen

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Despite slight miscommunication between [info]nekofreak and I, we met up and made it to Wondercon with perfect timing. The line moved super fast, we got our badges without hassle, and then skimmed through the exhibition hall and up the stairs to make it in to the panel for Watchmen.

So, the opening sequence and the first ten minutes or so was breathtaking. I am even more excited now than I was before.

BUT TO BE HONEST I WAS MORE EXCITED ABOUT JDM'S ADORABLY TOUSLED HAIR AND SPRAWLING. I had line of sight, so I don't think I was even looking at the screen unless he was on it. Ahaha. Out of politeness to the people next to me, well, the person who was not Neko and thus unprepared, I kept my excited wriggling down to a minimum. I wanted to strangle all the idiots who failed at the Q&A, but I'll reluctantly give points to the girl who asked about scenes they were excited or dreading to film and got a sarcastic response from JDM about the spoilerspoiler scene. Sarcasm win.

yaoi con, a brief photostory

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Had fun, am not as tired as I should be probably. Went out in costume with mundanes and startled young women in restrooms. May also have scared the children who weren't excited to see the Joker walking around. Oops? Maclynn cruelly outbid me for Kitsune's Rufus/Reno print in the art show. I would weep except I know it's going to end up in very loving and worthy hands...and hopefully inspire more fic! :)

Also, walking around as Tony Stark was possibly more pimp than being Roy Mustang. :o

this week in pre-con panic

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I don't know who said it was okay for y-con to be this coming weekend, 'cause I didn't. Man, that snuck up on me like nobody's business. I'd planned to pre-sell and deliver a few prints to some people since I don't have a table this year, but that's just not happening. (well, gnome, you're getting yours, but that's all I've got the time and ink to print!)

I was granted all my days off thankfully, but J still has school and work (even a bit /during/ con which means he won't be there all weekend, suck!). What's blowing my mind is that Blue arrives tomorrow. omgwtf! I at least have one costume done sans wig shopping, and am working on finishing the other two up today and tomorrow morning if I can manage. I do have to go in to work today for the wholesale desk again, which would be a lot nicer if a) the office wasn't a tiny muggy box near the baking ovens with less than stellar air conditioning, and b) I could take some of my cosplay with me to work on during the vast amounts of sitting around bored. If only I was a better hand-sewer!

still alive, still alive

I'm starting to fall behind on email and comments again. One hopes I'll deal with a chunk of that today since I'd been pretty good for a while. The backup is in part due to the fact that I've been playing a ton of LOTRO, but I think I've got the worst of it out of my system and can stop being a questing fiend now and take things more slowly. My elf is a killing machine though, omg. It is making me all nostalgic for LotR fandom I gotta say.

Other than that, I've been fairly absorbed in doing the whole song and dance sending out resumes and trying to land a job either for the summer or that'll carry through into next semester. As much as I don't want a boring office monkey job, man, I'm good at it, so hopefully I'll get something that pays around 15 an hour and take hope in that lowering the amount on my credit card will make up for the tedium. ~_~;

Fanime is this weekend, so the house is going to be empty save for J and I. We're probably only going down for a day since there are only a couple people we don't see regularly who are attending. That day will be whichever one we all see Iron Man again on. *_*

I still haven't watched the SPN finale. Or the last ep of BSG. MMORPGS consume all. D:

My plans today consist of finishing up a cosplay project, getting some art done, and poking at a few idling projects. Maybe a little more warg killing later, but only a little.

oh, y-con, you snuck up on me.

I'm about to trot off to make a few small tweaks to my mid-term and then I'm done with that. I've got another animation to do this weekend and to get started on a self-portrait, but that'll be simple enough. The only real criteria in this latest animation is that it's supposed to be with food, so I'm going to just take photos while I carve another pumpkin. :D

I finished a Lockon ♥ and Setsuna ♥ pic for Y-con, and I'm going to try for one more new pic for the art show and maybe another 00 something to have at my table, but we'll see how that pans out. I won't have much with me this year since I've been too busy with school to do a lot of drawing. I will have the CD version of Obligations with a new 1x2 story included on the disc though, and hopefully my other doujinshi as well, but the latter is iffy dependant on how long it takes me to tone stuffs.

Otherwise, I guess I should mention now, that if you want to pre-order any prints from me for pick-up, now is the time to do it. Most of my recent art is up at destiny.ponderosa121.com/gallery but if something isnt there that you're interested in, just ask.
