soon i will need more shelves

In happier news, who has two thumbs and a stack of Secret Invasion trades?

:D

I also picked up the set of Astonishing X-men trades next door at Half-Price Books.

My willpower against the Absolute Batman:Hush hardcover grows more and more weak. It doesn't help that I picked up Lee's sketchbook at Wondercon, either. Maybe in a couple months when my comics fund builds up again.

Doing thumbnails now for my doujinshi. I'm going to try a bit of a different approach to panel layout for this story and see how it goes. I have such a problem relying on narrative, which is I suppose in part because I'm converting more from prose than working from a script.

omg watchmen

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Despite slight miscommunication between [info]nekofreak and I, we met up and made it to Wondercon with perfect timing. The line moved super fast, we got our badges without hassle, and then skimmed through the exhibition hall and up the stairs to make it in to the panel for Watchmen.

So, the opening sequence and the first ten minutes or so was breathtaking. I am even more excited now than I was before.

BUT TO BE HONEST I WAS MORE EXCITED ABOUT JDM'S ADORABLY TOUSLED HAIR AND SPRAWLING. I had line of sight, so I don't think I was even looking at the screen unless he was on it. Ahaha. Out of politeness to the people next to me, well, the person who was not Neko and thus unprepared, I kept my excited wriggling down to a minimum. I wanted to strangle all the idiots who failed at the Q&A, but I'll reluctantly give points to the girl who asked about scenes they were excited or dreading to film and got a sarcastic response from JDM about the spoilerspoiler scene. Sarcasm win.

sam/dean art and my contributions to the economy

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Went downtown to Comic Relief today to pick up the book I'd requested. They had failed to call to let me know it came in. This wasn't terribly frustrating, but since I had to call and ask them to hold the book, it certainly made me wonder if it would be worth doing that again. The clerk assured me that failure to notify was a rare occurance, so I'll probably be good and continue patronizing my local shop rather than saying fuck it and ordering things more cheaply and lazily online. Naturally though, instead of just picking up that book, I bought like...four others as well. Economic stimulation powers activate! Secret Invasion, here I come. :d

I'm working now on finishing up my image for the spn_j2_xmas exchange. I worry that it won't live up to the image that I did for Blue's fic, but well, it's in a different style, so it's hard to compare.

Here's a link to [info]blue_soaring's fic Smoke Signals which includes my illustration. The fic is NC-17 and is 8k words of awesome, the accompanying image is NSFW.

In other news, tomorrow is the Wordpress Installfest at Berkeley Coworking. I'm excited to sit down and geek out and have some dedicated time to work on my site. :D

ETA: Edited for linkage!

rec fail, slash win

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I have an initial set fics waiting for rec writeups, but instead of doing that, there was quality time spent with the household. J and I went on a bike ride that after the initial freezing chill of doom turned out to be really lovely, and the evening was set aside for Honey and Clover.

When I wasn't drawing or otherwise poking around in the kitchen for sustenance, I was, uh, distracted. And my distracted I mean burning through comic books. My descent back into collecting is cemented. I know, it's probably not front page news.

So I was up on all the major Civil War plot points in the Marvel universe, right? I just had no idea that it was really all about Iron Man and Captain America and their tragic, tragic love for one another. Augh. D:

Yesterday, my mommy gave me substantially more Christmas money than I was expecting, which may come in handy now that I'm trying to decide just how far back I want to go in catching up on current canon. DDDD:
