steady rollin'

Yesterday J's family came up to visit for his birthday. Sophie is a handful but was relatively well-behaved, and Natalie the baby is getting big so fast it's kinda crazy! I suspect she's going to end up tall like her daddy since all of Carlos's sisters are like 5'10". We had a fairly lazy day and mostly just hung out. We took a nice long walk, and at the end of the day J and I were glad that it wasn't us having to drive home for once.

I ate pie and ice cream on top of having had a delicious omg scone for breakfast earlier and a rockstar during the day. @_@ I've been horrible about the sugar the past week, so it's time to kick that all over again. It sucks when I forget just how crappy I end up feeling when I don't eat well. Not eating out a lot recently has been great, but I've been making enough bad food decisions that I need to up and stop with that so I actually have energy and feel, you know, good.

After the family visit was done with, I finished up a new 1mr. Had fun in this one playing with the sort of art style that appeals to its star. I think I'd like to do something fannish in that style, but I'm not sure what fandom. ^^ The last time I posted a comic link laylah was nice enough to save me from my laziness and create a feed over here, so if you're interested, you can watch the comic on IJ. And now to get myself into gear and work on some more artsy things. :3

WAll-E is the cutest thing ever. Pixar is the only animation studio that could possibly make me want my very own pet cockroach. Adorable. ADORABLE. Also, if I push Cars out of my mind (as I do, no matter how much I love Owen), I'm constantly amazed at how they manage to take rather formulaic romances and make them work so well for me. Did I mention adorable?

The nice thing about watching something so flawlessly animated is that it really gets me all fired up to work on my models. I'll probably start over once again on a human figure and do that a few times over until I can get a base model built from scratch in a half hour. It's a good kick in the butt to haul out my anatomy book again and do some charts.

J won us some tickets to see the Grand Archives play tomorrow night at Slim's. Cue my happy. I'm curious if the set list will be different this time! Also, am curious how their sound is going to be on this leg of the tour. If it wasn't so flipping cold I'd wear the cute new skirt I bought. Alas, walking five miles in a skirt is not going to happen with this weather. The weather from a week ago, sure, but now? Not so much. Bleh. I feel so whiny about weather lately, but I don't do well when it swings between extremes so quickly. Am considering going in early before the show and trying to pick up a new pair of converse. Also a few new shirts since my wardrobe seems to have defaulted back to nothing but black and red. Sometimes, I feel like my chest of drawers is to clothing as Crowley's car is to cassette tapes.

Anyway, 1mr was updated the other day. Alas, the comic remains without a real robot. I recommend overcoming your disappointment by going to see Wall-E. :3

You know what I hate? I hate washing dishes and running a bowl under the tap at precisely the right angle to send the water shooting directly at my chest. This would probably be less of a concern if all the clothes I brought with us weren't already in the washer.

So J and I went biking with his brother in Nisene Marks yesterday. It was a lot cooler in the forest than I expected having left the house in a tank top, but once we got going it was a perfect temperature. I stuck to the main fire road both ways, but man, I can't even imagine what it would've been like if I hadn't gotten accustomed to trekking back and forth across Berkeley. We rode probably 8 miles total, and the inclines were pretty well spaced out so that I never felt like I was going to die and be forced to give up and crawl back to the car. The spot where we turned around is where what J calls "the stupid hill" begins, and yeah, wow, uh, I'd have to be in a LOT better shape to make it up that. I feel like that'd be a good goal to aim for though when the next time we visit down here rolls around.

J wasn't feeling too well when he woke up today though so we have postponed painting until Sunday. This bothers me not at all, since it just means I'll have more time to fool around with cosplay and writing a few more things for porn_battle. Also drawing, of which I'm getting a ton done on. Whee.

porn_battle is gearing up again. They're taking prompts until late wed/early thurs. I had a ton of fun with this last time around, since there's zero pressure, a ton of prompts/fandoms and it only runs pretty much over the weekend. Plus, who doesn't love comment porn?

J is finally awake, so we'll be leaving shortly and heading down to housesit for a week. Should be set up and back online before evening. ^^ New 1mr comic is up (with the mini-profile for Brainpan). After part two of this comic is posted, I'll probably start experimenting with styles. I'm excited. ^^

Only six months later, our household full of procrastinators has finally gotten the webcomic online.

Fun times with robots, zombies, general geekery, and the occasional kitten... Initiate!
