The setting is just gorgeous, and all the little details...the shadows and reflections in the water, the gnarls in the tree above them, the gradations in the fiery leaves...delicious! I have to wonder what Rufus is concentrating on that he looks so serious, almost sad, since I don't know that I'd be able to keep from grinning myself with a grinning Reno in my lap.
You know, I was trying to figure out what it is I love about your art, beyond just the sheer beauty and brilliance of it, and I think I finally figured it out. I can't draw to save my life, but I specialize in costuming, which I suppose is basically taking two dimensional images and making them three dimensional. What you do is the same thing - you take two dimensions and make them into three without ever having to expand into the third dimension! There is SO much depth to what you draw that I expect it to step out of the computer and bop me on the nose. The way his toes are in the water, the reflections, the leaves on the tree, the definition in the calf muscle, for heaven's sake! I mean, I have NO idea how you can do this so effortlessly. To even THINK of that amount of detail just leaves me in awe. I'd love to see how you picture things in your mind - it must be fascinating. :D
So there is my very un-art-educated commentary. :D If I could have 1% of your talent I'd consider myself extremely lucky!
*squees* Thanks again for doing such a great job with this scene. I'm still amazed with how much detail you brought to the garden, along with the wonderful job you did with the boys and on capturing the moment.
There's just something about Rufus rolling his pants up to put his toes in the water. I feel like there's something about to happen and they're taking one last moment before it does. I'm always impressed with how you're able to say so much without words. I have a whole story in front of me, without actually reading anything. Completely impressed all over again.
