Oh. I like the trichotomy here. (And yep, that is a word! I looked it up to be sure. ;)) You've got Lily, the very image of youth, health and vitality. She glows and is blemish free. Then there's Severus, who looks old before his time with his sallow skin and the lines on his face. There's also the suggestion of...not emaciation, but of being unhealthily thin around his ribs and collar bone. Really, his hair is the only 'healthy' thing about him. And then Remus, the third point of this triangle. While not as unhealthy as Severus, he still shows the wear and tear of a difficult and cursed life. He seems sad, even when he's with Lily and Severus. On top of desiring Lily for herself, I see the two of them desiring, protecting, perhaps even envying Lily her bloom. Her vitality.
