Thought I should give some love to someone else's claws FMA and get back into the swing of drawing anime-style again. I ease into this by drawing one of the more butch characters in my favourites stable. TPWB strikes again. Bishounen wot?

Today is half work and half fun. Earlier, J and I went to Blue Bottle cafe where we each got a cappuccino and a half pound of coffee. Am trying a new type of beans, so I have something to look forward to tomorrow morning. We walked around a bit, and wandered over to the Irish Bank for lunch. Not expecting to go near a pub, I didn't have my ID on me and couldn't get served. Oops.

It took a month, but I'm at the point where I'm at peace with the fact that I'm no longer invested in my job. I wish I was, since I love interacting with customers (even the ones who ask me for a macchiato) and knowing the ins and outs of nearly every aspect of the workplace, but there's no longer a sense of fulfillment to keep me motivated. The facet of my personality that had me devoting extra unpaid hours is better served working on other, more rewarding projects. I'll be finishing the last of the design work for the cafe between this week and the next and then I'm just going to show up, put in my fifteen hours a week, and let my apathy blanket keep me warm and fuzzy.

Of course, just before I start seriously considering what my options are for job hunting, I shaved my head. I love it and it is very pettable, but considering what the bulkier part of my resume is loaded with, the look is not entirely geared towards business casual.

Tonight is game night for our D&D campaign and I think we're almost out of the dungeon. I can't wait to get back to town and add my new skills. Until then, it's time to do some design and some illustration!

Evil twin loves me and not only writes hot Peter/Olivia for the crossdressing slot on her Kink Bingo card, but also sends me Victor/Logan animal play tidbits all day. I ♥ it when our fandoms are aligned. I also ♥ Kink Bingo. Now um, if I could only get cracking on more slots on my card. Instead, I draw! Besides commission things, today I've been working on a Greed/Kimberly piece and more Fringe fanart, but I took time away from those to fool around with painting techniques and a slightly different base palette than I'm accustomed to using. Fun times.

Now that I have gotten this out of my brain, I feel far less restless and obsessive. I also feel like my inner smushball is showing and it's keenly embarrassing. Poor J had to sit through days of my flailing at him and being all I don't do smushy stuff. I'm not a smusher. I work out. He told me I'm probably overly concerned about the romance because the penis to vagina ratio is atypical for me. I laughed. I also suspect he is right. I haven't fallen so hard for a non-poly hetship in ages.

Frequently, I am my own worst enemy. (Illustrated best perhaps at how the Snarry Games deadline is looming and I appear to be drawing the hardest thing possible.)

It took me a full day to find a song that didn't make me cringe or have entirely the wrong overtones, but I persevered and used up a lot of credits on eMusic. Decided finally on the Bon Savants, whom I highly recommend. Band name aside, extra metacookie points for the lead vocalist actually being a scientist, at MIT even. :3 Clips used from throughout season one.

Doing a lot of drawing and graphics today, so distraction by meme seems like a good idea.

eMusic is changing their membership types in a way that I fail to understand. In order for them to include more mainstream music from Sony's catalogue I will soon pay more to get fewer songs. Given that all those songs are easily found elsewhere, I don't see the point of blurring their focus. Bleh. I'm torn as to whether or not to keep my subscription. Still, I've gotten a ton of good music lately, so it does fulfill my need for exposure to new, shiny things.

...in other squealy news, I played more Wolverine today. Even without a make-out-with-Victor grab combo, the game is win all over the place. If only that level of badass fighting was actually, you know, in the movie. I'll take what I can get. And admittedly, I'm happy not bothering to block so that Logan's shirt stays off as much as possible.

I foolishly thought that I could get through Fringe without shipping anything, but nope. When I broke, I broke hard. In lieu of drawbling for Porn Battle, I wrote instead. I typically put a movie on while trying to fall asleep and for the past couple nights I've been watching Van Helsing. Even though the overdone effects haven't aged well and I begin to hate how the baddies leap acrobatically everywhere, I do love all the camp. The sets and costuming are still the most gorgeous thing ever, and I adore the corny bits all the more every time I see it again. In my heart of hearts, I still hope for a sequel in which Gabriel and Carl have Grand Adventures. ♥

Since the semester ended, I feel as if I've been catching up and that now, finally, things are properly settling down. It's a good feeling. J and I still haven't managed to make it to the zoo to sketch animals, which I blame mostly on staying up late to marathon shows we'd fallen behind on, so maybe next week for that.

Doing some work on my site today and some client stuffs, although since I'm working the desk tomorrow the things I have to do for the cafe I'm going to schedule for then. I'm thinking I'll do some drawbles for porn battle to warm up to drawing today. There are so many shiny prompts though, that picking a few will be tough.
